The Process of Declaring a Theatre/Dance Major/Minor
1. Your Proposal: List, semester by semester, the courses already taken, and the courses to be taken during your undergraduate career. Highlight the theatre and dance courses. Check the college catalogue and the department handbook for concentration requirements.
2. Take the class list to a Department of Theatre & Dance faculty member and to your registrar, they will go over your class list to determine if you have left anything out.
3. Turn in your proposed class list to The Department Secretary in the Theatre Office and ask her to schedule you into one of the faculty staff meetings. Your proposal (class list) will be distributed to the faculty and staff.
4. So we can get to know you, you will be introduced at the scheduled faculty and staff meeting. At that time, you will be asked to explain your motivation for being a major. Please be prepared to answer questions about your course schedule. This is not a test and we do not want to intimidate you, but rather help you make the correct decision about becoming a theatre major.
5. It will be to your advantage to declare your major early in your college career. NO STUDENT will be accepted as a major unless they declare BEFORE their second semester as a junior.
If you have any questions about this procedure, please see a faculty member.
