The Movement Studies Emphasis requires

The core courses for all dance majors:

• One full credit Modern Dance Technique class (DANC 50A/B, 119A/B, 120 A/B, 121 A/B, or 122 A/B)
• One full credit Ballet Technique class (DANC 51A/B, 123 A/B, or 124 A/B)
• Laban Movement Analysis (PO DANC 130 or SC DANC 103)
• Visual Arts of the Theatre (THEA 2)
• One full credit Coposition or Repertory class (DANC 140, 180, 181, or SC DANC 159)
• Dance History (DANC 135, 132, or SC DANC 101)
• One Crew Assignment (THEA 52)
• Anatomy and Kinesiology (DANCE 160 or SC DANC 163)
• Western Music, A Historical Introduction (MUS 57)
• One full credit non-western theatre, music or dance class (ie. Theatre and Dance of Asia (THEA 115D) Kabuki (THEA 19), Exploration of Cultual Style (DANCE 150), or West African Drumming and Dance (MUS 42A)
• Senior Project (DANC 192)

PLUS:

• Composition (DANC 140 or SC DANC 159 or 160)
• Repertory (DANC 180 or 181)
  
• Visual Arts of the Theatre (THEA 2)
• Theatre Crafts (THEA 20A or 20B)
  
• The completion of one teaching or service project
• Senior Project (DANC 192)

The Movement Studies emphasis culminates in a senior project/written thesis which may or may not involve performance.
